2018-05-08 Here’s a suggestion for people who suffer from allergies or food intolerances: the Noglla Restaurant in Wiesbaden. When you suffer from allergies or food intolerances, looking for a suitable restaurant, at least in the Rhine-Main region here in Germany, is a pretty difficult task. There is a lack of something that is pretty common in other regions or countries. So I was really happy when, over a year ago, I discovered the Noglla Restaurant.

Here, if you suffer from allergies, you’ll be jumping for joy! The restaurant serves only gluten and lactose-free dishes, hence the name Noglla (No Gluten No Lactose). Even those who have other allergies or intolerances will be safe at Noglla. It’s best to contact them first, either by phone or e-mail, to tell them about your allergies so that the chef and his team can prepare properly for your visit.

The people behind the restaurant

Noglla was created by Joana, who has suffered from food intolerances for years. At the beginning, when she changed her diet, she realised that there was very little on offer for people with allergies or intolerances, especially in the Rhine-Main region.

That’s how she got the idea to open Noglla, to offer people with the same problem the chance to enjoy a meal in a restaurant without worrying. Because gluten intolerance is often accompanied by lactose intolerance she decided to eliminate both!

Today she runs Noglla with chef Flo and a carefully chosen team. As well as running the restaurant, they sell homemade products like bread, pasta, spreads and sauces in various weekly markets in the region. These products can also be bought in the restaurant and the online store.

Noggla also holds regular workshops and events where participants cook together with the Noglla team and learn practical secrets from chef Flo to prepare tasty gluten and lactose-free dishes.

Every first Sunday in the month, Noglla organises a tasty brunch. This is a large buffet with fresh sandwiches, waffles and other delights – all gluten free, of course – which attract hordes of hungry customers!

The space

The first impression of Noglla is a very positive one! You feel at home as soon as you enter. The restaurant is small, but bright and welcoming. The dark furniture is both elegant and familiar. The restaurant has been furnished tastefully, with a simple beauty. Their homemade products (like pasta, bread and jams) are well presented. The list of suggested dishes and the daily menu are well structured and are presented to customers at the table. The staff are always very friendly, interested and attentive.

In Summer the terrace in front of the restaurant offers tasty al fresco pizzas!


Location

Noglla is in Heinrich-Zille-Straße 43, in Wiesbaden-Schierstein. Although it is outside the town centre, it can be easily reached by various secondary roads. It is also easy to park there, something that would be impossible in the centre of Wiesbaden!

Friday: 3 pm -10 pm
Saturday: 12 pm -10 pm

Prices

People who suffer from allergies or food intolerances know very well that gluten-free products or gluten-free dishes in restaurants cost more than normal. Dishes at Noglla are good value for money. A pizza costs just 8 euro and homemade pasta 9 euro. The prices of their products like bread, pasta, sauces and jams are a little higher, but they contain only excellent, high quality ingredients!

The Menu

As well as various homemade pasta dishes, pizzas and hamburgers, Noglla also offers homemade gnocchi and various types of fried chips and salads. There are also desserts, which change regularly.

In conclusion

What strikes you about Noglla is not only that it offers people with allergies or intolerances a great opportunity to eat without worrying, but even those who don’t suffer from the same conditions will enjoy the restaurant and its meals.

I highly recommend Noglla and I can’t wait to go back!
