Gnocchi alla sorrentina – recipe by the Greedy Gourmet

2018-06-22

One of the best-known Italian dishes abroad, reinterpreted for us by British food blogger Virginia, from her blog Greedy Gourmet.

Virginia made tasty gnocchi alla sorrentina, a comfort food Italian grandmothers used to serve.

A traditional recipe from southern Italy and specifically the Amalfi Coast, the dish is named after the splendid city of Sorrento.

“The traditional way of making the dish requires fresh potato gnocchi, which are baked in the oven with tomato sauce and served with mozzarella, parmesan cheese and basil (…) a truly characteristic recipe of the region of Campania!”

Virginia made her gnocchi on a SapienStone countertop with a Pietra Grey finish.

“ It looks so polished, modern and elegant, I’d love it if my kitchen would look like that!”

The whole procedure took place on a SapienStone countertop, which Virginia could then clean quickly and easily when done.

“#[These countertops] are ideal for kitchen work surfaces because they are hygienic, non-absorbent and resistant to thermal shock. What this means that I can safely place my hot pan straight off the stove on my work surface without damaging it.”

And now that you’ve worked up an appetite, find out how to make the dish on the blog Greedy Gourmet!
