SapienStone Pietra Grey countertop for Ballerina Küchen

2019-11-07

Every country has its own unique taste in the kitchen, not only in terms of flavours and aromas, but also in aesthetics and design. In Germany, for example, people prefer dark colours such as black and slate grey for their kitchen countertops, or neutral hues such as grey and pale wood. This is why the most popular SapienStone surfaces in Germany include Dark Marquina and Pietra Grey, as well as the Urban and Rovere collections.

The trend is confirmed by SapienStone’s partnerships with German bloggers, magazines and showrooms, which often request these surfaces.

After Arch+ magazine, which wanted a Dark Marquina countertop for the kitchen it uses for editorial events, and the De Gregori Interior showroom, with its Urban Antracite countertop, German kitchen brand Ballerina Küchen has also chosen a dark colour for the countertop of one of the kitchens in its new catalogue.

The Pietra Grey porcelain countertop was chosen to add personality to a beautiful island with contrasting pale-coloured cabinets. The result is a kitchen with a refined metropolitan look, underlined by the fine white veins running across the slate grey kitchen countertop.

We asked Ballerina Küchen Marketing Manager Jörg Hansel why the company chose this surface for one of its new kitchens.

Here’s the interview!

Why did you choose a SapienStone countertop for Ballerina kitchens?

The quality SapienStone porcelain countertop in the Pietra Grey colour is perfect for completing the precious look of our rustic „Belle Époque“ kitchen. The combination of Light Pepper lacquer and pewter oak wood in the cabinet doors goes perfectly with this prestigious kitchen countertop! The countertop and cabinet doors are the most important parts of the kitchen, aesthetically speaking. The choice of these items and how they are decorated has a major impact on the overall appearance.

What is your favourite innovative feature of SapienStone?

Its full-body colour. The veins running right through the material are very effective and

add to the prestige of our kitchen.

What do customers look for in a kitchen countertop?

First of all, they want it to look perfect. And, of course, customers want a long-lasting product that will be easy to clean! In the case of the worktop in particular, resistance to heat and scratching are extremely important!

What is the hottest trend in the kitchen in Germany right now?

The kitchen is no longer just a place for making meals, but the starting point for a complete spatial concept that also includes the living room. This is why today’s colour trends are particularly important, such as our new „Light Pepper“ colour, a delicate greyish beige that goes perfectly with all the trendy shades of grey and black

and with finishes in stone and wood. Another big trend is breaking down the classic kitchen into mobile units and functionally integrating individual elements into the concept of the living area.

What’s the top in the kitchen for you?

The best parties always end up in the kitchen, and it’s important to take this into account when you buy kitchen furnishings. In addition to choosing practicality, with sophisticated surfaces and colours, the most important thing is to create an oasis of wellbeing... so all the parties that end up in the kitchen will end on a high note!
